Helping out on the Farm
The animals in the stables have to be fed regularly. If you want to help out, you're more than welcome to help the farmer with his daily tasks around the stables. If the course of the year and vegetation allow, you can also hitch a ride on the tractor.
Can I help? Absolutely! Can you work with a fork? What's the difference between a hay fork and a pitchfork? Do you know the difference between hay and straw? What is hay made of and what is straw made of?
Hay is dried grass and very valuable feed. Straw is made up of different stems of grains and is used as bedding for the calves. And what is litter? Litter comes from litter meadows. It's meager grass of wide moss meadows that was cut very late. After it was dried and pressed into round bales, it will be chopped and used as bedding for the cows, not feed. Will cattle eat wood shavings? No, that's corn silage! Why does the cow Lessi have horns? How much milk does a cow give? How long does a cow live?
As a family run farm, we also keep in mind the needs of your little ones.
